JENISON (WOOD-AM) - Voters in the Jenison Public Schools district are being asked on May 7 to approve a $117 million bond that would pay for a new elementary school and modernize existing school buildings.

Superintendnet Brandon Graham says the bond proposal will not change the current property tax rate.

"Our bond proposal would be based on the current debt millage rate of 8.5 mills and we're able to maintain that and then go out for this bond proposal without raising that millage rate for our community,” Graham told WOOD-TV.

If approved, Graham says a one-year design process would begin, followed by four years of construction.
