West Michigan native murdered in Georgia

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say they have arrested the man who shot and killed a West Michigan native living in Georgia.

"It's hard to know that I can't just see her when I want to see her," Sharika Bowman's younger brother Daron Bowman told 24 Hour News 8 Sunday. "I have to look at pictures. That will do. But my sister will be with me each and every day."

Bowman, a graduate of Grand Rapids Union High School, left Michigan in the early 2000s for better job opportunities. At 35, she was working as a nurse and raising her five children in Stone Mountain, Georgia, near Atlanta.
