Snyder calls for action after dents found in Line 5

LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — Gov. Rick Snyder and Lt. Gov. Brian Calley  are pushing for legal action after dents were found in Line 5.

The  state was informed late Tuesday night there are three small dents in  Line 5, which is likely due to the same vessel activity that could have  caused damage to another line that released mineral spirits into the  water. A Governor’s office release said Enbridge Inc. reported the dents  are small and pose no threat to the pipeline, but the state will have  its own experts verify the information.

Snyder is calling for an  acceleration of studies on how to eliminate anchor strikes and the  potential for tunneling, which would eliminate anchor risks, the release  said. Legal actions against those responsible for the recent damage  have also been requested.
