1 year later: Comstock Twp. fire chief remembered

COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich.  — Thursday marks one year since Comstock Township Fire Chief Edward Switalski was killed in the line of duty.

Monday, the Red Cross honored Switalski by a holding a blood drive at Comstock Township Fire Department Station 9-1.

Comstock Township Clerk Michelle Mohney said the average number of donors at blood drives ranges from 25 to 40 people with 25 units of blood donated. Monday, more than 50 people registered with 49 units of blood, which is expected to save nearly 150 lives.
