Caledonia wins championship in honor of fallen teammate

EAST LANSING, Mich. (via WOOD TV 8) — Two years ago, Caledonia softball lost a valuable member of its family and team.

Macayla Kohn was 16 years old when she was killed in a crash. For the last two seasons, the Scots have played in memory of Kohn, who would have been a senior this year.

On Saturday, Caledonia came through and won the Division 1 state championship over Hartland, 6-4.

The Scots fell behind 3-1 early, but rallied back with a big third inning. They scored four runs on four hits and one error, including a two-run triple off the bat of Jadon Huyser

Macayla Kohn’s mother, Jessica Kohn was at the game and said her daughter would have been thrilled with the outcome.
