Crashes, slide-offs cause highway closures in W. MI

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Sections of several major highways in West Michigan were shut down on Friday due to crashes and slide-offs.

The most recent closure was on southbound US-131 at 17 Mile Road (Cedar Springs exit) in Kent County due to a crash involving a semi-truck and an SUV. Around 1:15 p.m., at least one lane of traffic was open.

During the Friday morning commute, the southbound lanes of US-131 were shut down at Post Drive in Plainfield Township north of Grand Rapids due to a multiple vehicle crash. It has since reopened.

The eastbound lanes of I-96 were shut down from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. between Coopersville and Marne due to multiple crashes.
