Grand Haven mayor defeated in primary

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — Incumbent Grand Haven mayor Geri McCaleb was defeated by two challengers in Tuesday’s primary election.

The front runner of the race was Josh Brugger, who received 741 votes, which is about 40% of the vote.

Challenger Robert Monetza edged out McCaleb by 28 votes.

Brugger and Monetza will face off in November’s primary election.

McCaleb was first elected in 2011. She previously served on city council from 2001-2009.

24 Hour News 8 is tracking 23 other races, including a 10-year millage to fund Central Dispatch in Branch County, a millage to keep Dorr Township library open, and a second try at a $37 million millage for Tri County Area Schools that failed in May.
