Grand Rapids is naming the next deputy city manager.
Mary (Kate) Berens has 25 years of experience in city law and government.
She graduated from the University of Michigan with a law degree and from the University of Washington with a bachelor's in conservation and wildland resources.
She has served as the deputy city manager for Bellevue, Washington since 2014.
