Whitmer, Nessel aim to lower insulin prices

Every year, more than 69,000 Michiganders get the diagnosis that they have diabetes.

Type One diabetes is not lifestyle or diet.

Their pancreas does not produce any insulin.

Samuel Dater is diabetic and says he pays $400 a month on insurance and another $75 deductible for insulin.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer told the Michigan Advance she is supporting House Bill 4346 which would cap the cost of insulin at $50 a month.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Wednesday she is launching an investigation into Eli Lilly, one of the country's largest insulin producers, for over pricing.
