Michigan House, Senate Pass $4.8 Billion Infrastructure Plan

LANSING (WOOD-AM) - Roughly 24 hours after it was announced, the Michigan House and Senate have passed a $4.8 billion infrastructure plan.

The legislation is bipartisan and has the governor's support.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer says the plan fulfills proposals she made for clean drinking water, better roads and lead service line replacement in Benton Harbor.

She's expected to sign the legislation.

More than $1.75 billion will go toward safe drinking water. More than $300 million was set aside for dams. Nearly $400 million will be spent on road repairs.

The money came from the federal government after congress passed pandemic and infrastructure legislation.
